Just sue them all!

© Copyright Frank D. Kanu 2000-2009

In the news I heard about a consumer who is not only suing the manufacturer of a product but also the store selling it. (According to the manufacturer the consumer failed to read the instructions.)

One might argue that the instructions were not suitable for the buyer, but that’s not the point here: Why the store which sold the product has to be sued? It’s a big store and chances of a big paycheck when the case is won are high, right? Let’s just forget everything about ethics, morals, et cetera. After all—a lot of politicians all over the world set that example, don’t they?

Here is my advice to that consumer: While you are at it—why not suing the company who transported the product from the manufacturer to the store? And your teachers, because they failed to teach you how to read instructions (and it really doesn’t matter if you read them or not—just take ‘em to court!). And the state, because it employed teachers who failed… I am pretty sure if you are getting creative you will find a lot of others to take to court.

Boy - I feel better now.

I always thought it is unreasonable (to put it midly) how litigation is often used as a money-maker rather than an instrument of justice. It’s people like this consumer that undermine the entire legal system and, in the end, lead to bigger and better legal protections for major businesses, which, in turn, actually works against consumers with genuine grievances.

But I guess not a lot of people can stop and think on what they’re doing when there’s money to be made.

That’s so funny. Maybe I should be quiet, though. Someone could come up with a b/s reason to sue ME.

Why now go the whole way and sue yourself, like this guy did: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,188115,00.html

    Good post :)

I think we have too many lawsuits

Because I value your thoughtful opinions, I encourage you to add them.
